Girls Ministry in Bugnay LAUNCH

“The longer I stayed the more I learned the task before me was bigger than I expected, I was in way over my head, I was completely inadequate for the job I had just signed up for… God had already went before me, preparing the way, they knew my mission when I arrived and gave me no opportunity to back out… chills ran down my spine and a massive smile covered my face because there was no doubt in my mind that the most unqualified person had been called to conquer the impossible placing me in the perfect position to see God’s power in a mighty way.”

We are believing in Psalm 37:4 not following our own hearts but chasing after God’s plan for our lives.  Please join me in praying over the lives of these amazing young women.

Seconds after hiking to Bugnay, before I had the chance to rest or take a sip of water, I was greeted by a pastor’s wife squealing about how ecstatic she was that I was starting a Bible study for the single girls there.  How on earth did she know?  I smirked up at God, “You thought I was going to back out of this didn’t you?”  The thought had crossed my mind, I mean, I am a midwife after all and this is completely out of my comfort zone and area of expertise.  The pastors in Bugnay blessed the idea and told me I should use the church… causing me to smirk up at God once again.  “This is going to be bigger than what I’ve planned for isn’t it?”  On a Monday night, I unlocked the church and within five minutes more than 25 girls had filed in behind me.  I spoke about our identity in God and how we are daughters of a King.  They laughed hysterically at the games I had planned and responded to every question I asked.  Given their usual shyness I had not expected them to be so cooperative.  I could not have asked for or dreamed of, for that matter, a better first meeting.

Even though the first meeting went so well, I still went to bed that night with the overwhelming feeling that I should not get excited because no one was going to come back to the next meeting.  The next morning, before I had my coffee, three girls had come to my door to ask when we were going to meet again.  Oh how gracious is the God I serve in sending perfect encouragement exactly when it’s needed.  I asked them what they wanted to learn about in the meetings.  Their answer was simple, “Just tell us about Jesus, Crystal.  We really want to know about Jesus!”  I was overwhelmed to tears and embarrassed that God had to beat me over the head to obey Him in this.  I did not need any more confirmations.  My heart was bursting with joy as I thought “Oh I will tell you about Jesus!”

At our second meeting, more than 25 girls age 13 to 20 showed up again.
I taught about dreams, using Galatians 6: 4-5 that says, “Make a careful exploration of who you are and the work you have been given…Each of you must take responsibility for doing the creative best you can with your own life.”  At the end, I had them use their creative best to write out one dream for their life.  They wrote: I want to be a teacher, my dream is to be used by God, I want to be in the ministry, and I want my father to come to church.

With that being said, Georgia Macad and her family will be leaving next month to visit her family in Canada and I will be helping to run her clinic in her absence until August.  As for Bugnay and starting a girl’s ministry there I have already declared to God that I’m all in and I plan to stay there for a longer term in August.  Basic supplies like paper, markers and glue are nonexistent in this village tucked away on a mountain side.  Any craft project like tie-dyed shirts, plus books, Bibles, nail polish, stuff for games will all need to be purchased ahead of time to take with me there.  All of these items can be purchased in Manila where my beautiful sister is staying.  This opportunity is huge and I don’t want you to miss it.
