First Two Mountain Outreaches=Success

After having stayed in Bugnay for almost two weeks, I was greeted by familiar white faces and midwife friends from the clinic in Tabuk.  The realization that my stay in Bugnay was about to end made me sad; while the excitement of the outreaches I had been anticipating for months covered me with joy.  One day we hiked to the village of Buscalan.  (I would like to give a shout out to my calf muscles here… couldn’t have made that trek without you J) The women were attentive and inquisitive during our health teaching, we fed them a snack of pancit (noodles with carrots, green beans and cabbage) and juice and provided them with prenatal care.  The second outreach was in the village of Bugnay and again I was impressed with the turnout.

One day I'll count the stairs for the people that keep asking but I always loose track after 500!
Health Teaching for women in Buscalan

We are playing a game while waiting for everybody to arrive.

We are doing the devotion and health teaching for the pregnant women in Bugnay.

I was telling a friend that I knew people were praying because everything went perfectly.  She quickly asked, “But wasn’t there a landslide and didn’t they have a flat tire?”  Clearly my definition of perfect is skewed but I do not believe the organization of everything from the preparation of the snack to the delivery of health teaching and devotion to the thoroughness of prenatal care could have went any smoother.   I am glad God laid this outreach idea on my heart and grateful Georgia was supportive in making it happen.

Keep us in your prayers next month we will be traveling to three
different villages we have never visited before!
