Always Room for One More

We always joke here that there is always room for one more on a jeepney.  This was demonstrated to the two new foreign students when we went to the market the other day.  I flagged down a jeepney completely packed with people and the girls eyes got big and one said, “I don’t think we are going to fit.”  I just smiled and climbed on board.  They decided to follow.  Once we got off at the market they could not stop talking about it.  It was as if they had experienced something magical and were in complete awe of how we had fit.

The other day our van broke down so we took the public jeepney to go on our outreach in a resettlement village.  As we journeyed along at five miles an hour with more and more people climbing in, I became cramped with people’s elbows in my sides and people stepping on my toes.  I was all scrunched up wondering why the smile on my face was growing bigger and bigger.  I felt God’s amazing presence on that jeepney packing in it like the rest of us and overflowing my heart with His joy and love.  It seems there’s always room for more of Jesus (love, joy, peace, comfort) in our hearts as well.  Shall we test our hearts capacity like we do with cramming one more person on a jeepney?
