Proposal for Renovation and Extension
YWAM came to the village of Bugnay
bringing the gospel message less than 30 years ago. When they first came their message was not
properly translated because the man translating feared the people of Bugnay
would kill the two missionaries. When
they left he confessed that he had not told the people accurately what they
proclaimed and told them if they would give him a Bible to read that he’d
translate correctly the next time they came.
Today he is the pastor of the church and has more faith than any man I
know. The church was built in 1987 with
the assistance of YWAM and a missionary named Melchor who has many incredible
stories about sharing the gospel with the people here. When I heard his story about night the witch
doctor tried to kill him and he floated down the raging rapids in the river to
a town several hours away I couldn’t help but be overwhelmingly grateful that
it was him and not me.
Since the church was first built it has
grown very slowly with the same few people in attendance each Sunday until the
last few years. Now if you don’t show up
to church an hour early there’s a good chance you won’t have a seat. Every Sunday I’ve attended this year tears
fill my eyes at the sight of the crowded church with many standing outside as
well. I prayed for this when I first
visited the church in 2004 and I’m so in awe at how much God has moved in the
last few years. I listen to the youth
stay up late every night practicing worship songs and it’s completely worth it
when God’s presence fills the building on Sunday morning. I’ve never been this excited about a problem
in all my life! In order for more
nonbelievers to come to know Christ there has to be space for them to get
inside the church on Sunday mornings. I
have spoken with the pastors and elders of the church to obtain a proposal for
the church expansion. Below are the
estimated costs to properly expand the church.
If you feel lead to join this wonderful opportunity to reach lives for
Jesus in the Philippines please consider giving financially to the expansion of this church. I’m a firm
believer in giving away whatever it is that you need… so if you need a bigger
church or want to see more people finding Jesus in your community here’s your
chance.
